This is a tumblelog, kinda like a blog but with short-form, mixed-media posts with stuff I like. Scroll down a bit to start reading, or a bit more to read more about me.
A Love Letter For You » Murals ….
Is the work of Steve Powers and was a response to the poor quality of civic art in Philly.
The premise is based upon a man courting a woman, as observed through a a number of witty and occasionally moving statements. All beautifully written, using great typography and located at various points on the elevated train’s journey along Market-Frankford line in Philadelphia. Inspired stuff
So here I am in New York, in a nice suite in Mid Town (East 45th), (thanks SK - x) taking a short break from this weeks main task which is - get my ass a job in Nyc!
After years of talking about it, pondering it and very nearly doing it, the time has come for a relocation. The last few weeks has been all about lining up prospective meet’s, interviews and general chit chats with a range of people. A lot of which wouldn’t have happened without the help of various people (seriously - I owe you all!!).
Interestingly, this process of finding a job has reminded me of the power your own social graph, who you know and who in turn they can connect you with. Whilst this is taken for granted online (errrm Facebook anyone?). These “real” world connections have been invaluable.
…especially when the alternative is the prosaic online application “Thank you for your interest in….” “Due to the sheer volume of …..” blah!
Whereas the this has been a more accurate example of my job hunt:
<Email> “Hello Paul, lets speak at X time”.
<Phone> “Oh your going to be in town, so how are you fixed for Wednesday at X O’clock”….
Now, you are cooking with gas.
